News from Around the System ON Feb 21, 2012
Covenant-sponsored nursing home St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion (Lewiston, Maine) has earned the highest quality rating – five out of five stars – from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This national quality rating system was created by CMS to help consumers and their families compare and choose a quality nursing facility.
The rating system is based on health inspections, staffing, and quality measures to achieve an overall rating. Additional stars are earned for excellence in staffing and quality care. A five-star designation means St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion is “much above average” in these categories.
“Among other measures of success,” says Phil Jean, Vice President of Elder Care Services at St. Mary’s Health System, “the Five-Star rating is also a reflection of the strategic initiatives and evidence-based practices at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion which produce quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.”
St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion is the flagship component of the elder care services offered through St. Mary’s Health System comprised of a state-of-the-art Rehab Center, and specialized dementia, skilled, and long-term care units. D’Youville provides residents with the most advanced technology and skilled nursing care in the region. More importantly, staff puts forward extraordinary respect, care, and compassion to every resident.
